2017-2018 Meal Plans

Are you living off campus? Or in Campus Edge, College Point or Campus Core? Not sure if you need a meal plan? Having a campus dining meal plan allows you to customize your meal purchases based on your schedule; whether it’s a full meal in our CLC Dining Hall, a freshly made to order sub sandwich at SubConnection or a jolt of espresso from Jazzman’s Cafe on your way to that 8:00am class.

Plan Options

  • The Freedom - $1353 per semester 
    Participants may choose from breakfast, lunch or dinner and enjoy up to three meals per day for a total of 9 meals per week in the Campus Life Center Dining Hall. The Freedom plan includes $250 in Spartan Bonus Bucks. This plan accommodates those students who want the flexibility of an on-campus meal plan with greater access to on-campus restaurants. 
  • The Spartan 25 Block - $160 per semester or per purchase 
    Participants may choose from breakfast, lunch or dinner and enjoy 25 meals per purchase of this plan. This plan includes 25 meals for use in the CLC Dining Hall. 
  • The Spartan 400 - $400 per purchase 
    It offers the greatest flexibility for meal choices and selections. When purchasing this plan Campus Dining will deposit an additional $50.00 in to their Spartan Points account - giving the student a total purchasing value of $450.00. Students may purchase food from any on-location in any amount; whether it’s a full meal in the CLC Dining Hall, sandwich combo at the Smith Food Court or a smoothie after working out. 
  • The Spartan 200 - $200 per purchase 
    Recommended for students who are very light eaters. Who generally skip breakfast, occasionally misses lunch and is away from campus at nights and on the weekends. With the purchase of this plan Campus Dining will deposit an additional $20.00 into their Spartan Points account for a total purchasing value of $220.00
  • Spartan 55  
    This is a $55.00 Spartan Points account that is automatically assigned to all non-residential (commuter) students for food purchases at any on-campus dining location.

Any unused Spartan Points at the end of the Fall semester carry over to the Spring semester.  Any Spartan Points balances remaining at the end of the Spring semester shall be forfeited.

How To Purchase:

  • Purchase online through the CarolinaCard Self Service Site at
    • After signing in, click on ACCOUNT INFO, then click CAROLINA CASH DEPOSIT, select the current term (ie. Spring 2018), and the amount you wish to deposit
  • Or at the Cashier's Office located in the Health Education Complex

Dining Guidelines:

  • All meals in the Campus Life Center Dining Hall are served all-you-care-to-eat. Therefore, this dining hall does not allow take out. Students may not remove food, dishes or utensils from the dining area.
  • Meal plans are based on a seven day week. The week begins on Friday and ends on Thursday. Please note that any unused meals do not carry over from week to week.
  • Most meal plans include Spartan Bonus Bucks or Spartan Points. Both are for food purchases only and can be used at any USC Upstate Dining location on campus.
  • Meal Plans are exclusively for the student owner.  Students may not trade meals from one student to another student, unless they use a block plan or points. The use of another student’s meal plan for food purchases is strictly prohibited.

Important Info

Carolina Card Info
Your Carolina ID card must be presented each time you enter the Campus Life Dining Hall and at all on-campus locations. Your chosen meal plan will be automatically encoded onto your Carolina Card on Move-In Day or at Orientation. If you lose your ID card, inform the Dining Services Office and order your replacement card. Replacement cards are purchased at the University Public Safty Station for $25.00.

Spartan Bonus Bucks
Spartan Bonus Bucks are a great solution for purchasing meals and snacks at the Smith Building Food Court, Sandellas and Fuel. All food purchases are tax free using Spartan Bonus Bucks and all USC Upstate Residential Meal plans include Spartan Bonus Bucks. As an additional bonus, you receive an automatic 8% discount when you use Spartan Bonus Bucks at the Campus Life Center Dining Hall.

More Spartan Points (which rollover from Fall to Spring semester) can be added to your Carolina Card through the Carolina Card Self Service Site. Whenever you make a meal purchase, simply present your card to the cashier and the amount will be deducted from your balance. Spartan Points do not roll over from year to year.

Do You Have Particular Dietary Needs?
No problem! We are committed to meeting the needs of our students; in the CLC Dining Hall we will feature particular menu items which are lactose free and gluten free. We can provide additional assistance for student who have particular food allergies or intolerance. Our posted daily menus list any potential allergens and all nutritional information for that particular menu item being served.
