2017-2018 Meal Plans

USC Upstate dining programs are designed to fit the lifestyles of the USC Upstate student. Our Campus Life Center Dining Hall offers a variety of different menu options in an all-you-care-to-eat format. The Smith Building Food Court features restaurants such as Subconnection, Jazzman’s Café, and Tres Habaneros. The Health Education Complex features quesadillas, flatbread pizzas, grab & go sandwiches and 100% fruit smoothies from Sandellas flatbread cafe, Simply to Go and FUEL.

In order to meet your campus dining needs, we have designed the following meal plans for the academic year. If you have any questions regarding these plans, please contact the Campus Dining office at (864) 503-5900. Prices are subject to change. 


Dining Brochure 2017-18


  • The Ultimate - $1612 per semester 
    Offers unlimited meals; participants can enter the Campus Life Dining Hall as many times a day as they want, even just to get a snack. This plan includes $200 in Spartan Bonus Bucks for food purchases at other on-campus locations. 

    *For participants who live on campus, this plan is automatically added to their tuition bill. 
    *Mandatory for residents of the Palmetto House and Magnolia House 
  • The Freedom - $1353 per semester 
    Participants may choose from breakfast, lunch or dinner and enjoy up to three meals per day for a total of 9 meals per week in the Campus Life Center Dining Hall. The Freedom plan includes $250 in Spartan Bonus Bucks. This plan accommodates those students who want the flexibility of an on-campus meal plan and greater, convenient access to on-campus restaurants. (available only to those students living in the Villas Apartments). 

    *For participants who live on campus, this plan is automatically added to their tuition bill. 
  • The Villa Alternate Plan - $1353 per semester 
    This plan is an alternative option for residents in the Palmetto Villa Apartments giving them more flexibility in their on-campus dining experience. It includes 5 meals a week in the CLC Dining Hall and $350 in Spartan Bonus Bucks to use at any on-campus restaurant.(available only to Palmetto Villa Apartments)

Dining Guidelines

All students living in the Palmetto or Magnolia House will automatically be assigned to The Ultimate Meal Plan. Students who will be living in the Villas Apartments will be automatically assigned to the The Freedom Plan but may upgrade to The Ultimate Plan (extra charges apply) or change to The Villa Alternate Plan. 

All USC Upstate students are eligible to purchase a meal plan. There are many options available; please see the information for the different Commuter options. To purchase a Commuter Meal plan, please visit the Carolina Card Self Service Site My.sc.edu or the Cashier's Office located in the Health Education Complex across from the Bookstore.

  • All meals in the Campus Life Center Dining Hall are served all-you-care-to-eat. Therefore, this dining hall does not allow take out. Students may not remove food, dishes or utensils from the dining area.
  • Meal plans are based on a seven day week. The week begins on Friday and ends on Thursday. Please note that any unused meals do not carry over from week to week.
  • Most meal plans include Spartan Bonus Bucks or Spartan Points. Both are for food purchases only and can be used at any USC Upstate Dining location on campus. Additional Bucks or Points may be purchased from the Cashier's Office located in the Health Education Complex.
  • Meal Plans are exclusively for the student owner.  Students may not trade meals from one student to another student. The use of another student’s meal plan for food purchases is strictly prohibited.

Important Info

Carolina Card Info
Your Carolina ID card must be presented each time you enter the Campus Life Dining Hall and at all on-campus locations. Your chosen meal plan will be automatically encoded onto your Carolina Card on Move-In Day or at Orientation. If you lose your ID card, inform the Dining Services Office and order your replacement card. Replacement cards are purchased at the University Public Safty Station for $25.00.

Spartan Bonus Bucks
Spartan Bonus Bucks are a great solution for purchasing meals and snacks at the Smith Building Food Court, Sandellas and Fuel. All food purchases are tax free using Spartan Bonus Bucks and all USC Upstate Residential Meal plans include Spartan Bonus Bucks. As an additional bonus, you receive an automatic 8% discount when you use Spartan Bonus Bucks at the Campus Life Center Dining Hall.

More Spartan Points (which rollover from Fall to Spring semester) can be added to your Carolina Card through the Carolina Card Self Service Site. Whenever you make a meal purchase, simply present your card to the cashier and the amount will be deducted from your balance. Spartan Points do not roll over from year to year.

Do You Have Particular Dietary Needs?
No problem! We are committed to meeting the needs of our students; in the CLC Dining Hall we will feature particular menu items which are lactose free and gluten free. We can provide additional assistance for student who have particular food allergies or intolerance. Our posted daily menus list any potential allergens and all nutritional information for that particular menu item being served.
